Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

This website, the official author site of Martin Hodges, is run by Requillion Press (ABN 63 646 980 928) (“we”, “us”, “our”), Martin Hodges’s publisher. We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What personal information we collect

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our activities. This may include:

  • your name, email address and anything else you choose to include, when you email us;
  • your email address (we don’t ask for your name) and the updates you choose, when you sign up for email updates on this site, together with your IP address, browser type and the date and time, to help us prevent spam and abuse;
  • technical information automatically recorded by our web server when you visit this site, such as your IP address, browser type, pages requested and the date and time of your visit.

This website does not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and does not ask you to create an account. We do not collect sensitive information.

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you email us or sign up for updates, and automatically through server logs when you browse the site. You may contact us using a pseudonym, although we will need a working email address to reply.

Why we collect it and how we use it

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and correspondence;
  • send you the email updates you sign up for, such as news, new blog posts or a book release;
  • operate, secure and maintain this website and diagnose technical problems;
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We will not use your information for any other purpose without your consent, unless permitted or required by law. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

Disclosure to others

We may share personal information with service providers who help us run the business, such as our website hosting and email providers, only to the extent needed for them to provide those services. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers, including our email provider, may store data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle your information consistently with the APPs.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Server logs are retained only for as long as needed for security and maintenance, and we delete or de-identify personal information when it is no longer needed.

Email updates

You can sign up for email updates on this site: Martin Hodges’s news, new blog posts, or the release of a particular book. When you sign up we email you a link to confirm, and we send you nothing else until you do. We only use your details to send the updates you chose. Signing up again with the same email on this site replaces your earlier choices, and we email you to say so. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe, or you can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing hello@requillionpress.com.au. We keep a record of what you agreed to and when. Sign-ups that aren’t confirmed are deleted after 7 days, and the records we keep of sign-up attempts to prevent abuse (including the internet address used) are deleted after 30 days.

Accessing and correcting your information

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@requillionpress.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days, and will not charge you for making a request. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached the APPs, please contact us at hello@requillionpress.com.au with details of your concern. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated.
